Compact and rich in dialog

VEPRO invited users to an event at the Lufthansa training center near Darmstadt. On the agenda were the features in the current releases of the EMR Manager and VIS information systems, new products and offers from partners were central – in addition to an exchange of ideas and experiences with the IT specialists and radiologists. The wide range of new features for the existing solutions from Pfungstadt includes expansions for hanging protocols, increased options for presentation management, and a centralized archive in addition to single login, optimized performance, pre-completed support forms and ticket tracking.
New product – VHP Health Portal creates a network and patient file
Hospital-wide communication, teleradiology and telecommunications, as well as portal functions for referring physicians – these are the main advantages of the new solution that the provider introduced to users at the meeting. The web-based VEPRO Health Portal, says Roth, sets clear trends; for instance, it allows central data storage and data access through various service-provision partners, and it can integrate a patient-based health file with a patient card and QR code. The portal’s outstanding features include flexibility and geographic freedom as well as unlimited DICOM transmission, email and text messages and a multilingual interface. In a few years, says the Chairman of the Board, this system will also replace the existing PACS. VHP will soon be offered as a rental version.
Partner providers demonstrate a broad spectrum
Dell presented itself as a solution provider – not just a hardware supplier – for infrastructure and storage, handheld devices and telephony. Here, mobile clinical computing is the watchword for added value; according to Dr. Marten Neubauer, this includes the cloud-computing offering that is also used by the SRH clinics. Regional Sales Manager & Solution Consultant Health Care also presented a new PACS archiving solution from InsiteOne, a company recently acquired by Dell.
What the users are saying
“What I like about VEPRO is its high level of specialized expertise, its service responsiveness and the customization options. For a medium-sized company, the flexibility is also outstanding,” explained Stefan Paris, a radiologist in the Radiology Department at the Evangelisches Krankenhaus Königin Elisabeth Herzberge in Berlin. He sees great potential for the future in the new VHP product offering: “We have already connected three referring physicians; we are currently transmitting diagnostic reports by email and providing access to our calendar; image transmission has not been ideal so far, since we can only send jpgs. The planned portal would certainly optimize this. It would also be helpful to be able to integrate surgeons and urologists who need images for their documentation processes.”
“During the everyday routine, people usually just focus on their own tasks; the VEPRO user meeting showed ways to optimize workflow, and it demonstrated new technologies. User meetings and visits to reference sites are the methods of choice for inspiring further development,” said Dr. Bernd Groothoff. “We have been using the provider’s solution for a year now – it’s very smooth and intuitive to use, and you don’t need to cart around extensive handbooks,” continued the Medical Director of Radiology at the Mutterhaus der Borromäerinnen in Trier. Specific hurdles like configuration issues can be solved through the administrator training, he said; the Pfungstadt company’s assistance in connecting the RIS worked well. “And the new VHP offering helped us automate our current manual connection for referring physicians.” “The referring physicians still have a relatively low level of acceptance for such portals – even if we wish it were otherwise,” said lecturer Dr. med. Günther Sigmund. The chief radiologist at the Mutterhaus in Trier praised the outstanding role that the provider’s reliable PACS plays in his clinic.
“We have been working with VEPRO since the spring of 2006, and with great success,” said Dr. Andreas Wieschen happily. “The solution has consistently developed in a positive direction,” continued Dr. Wieschen, the Medical Director of Radiology at the Institute for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at the GPR Klinikum Rüsselsheim.
“Once again, this user meeting was extremely valuable; our customers always give us suggestions for further developing the modules,” said Stefan März. “We are happy to take up these requests and suggestions and include them in our development work. One thing that was very well received,” emphasized the VEPRO CTO, “was our new VHP portal, because it fulfills customer expectations in terms of networking, simple handling and scalability for the quality levels.” The users are already looking forward to hearing about the planned content and event location for the 2012 user meeting.
