VEPRO PACS: Archive Management

Archive management - Flexibility to meet your needs!
Due to the technology development speed of IT components, the life cycle of hardware, in particular, is becoming shorter and shorter. Data storage is better, with a much larger capacity. This means that solutions which must accommodate for these rapid changes. For this reason, we offer you economical, scalable storage and archive solutions for the latest PACS generation:

ONLINE archive:
• Keeps data for any number of years in (or for an unlimited period) direct CACHE access
• Access time is less than 1 second, eliminating the need for time intensive, RIS/CIS dependant prefetching/ preloading of data
=> ALL DATA IS AVAILABLE WITHIN SECONDS EVERYWHERE AT ALL TIMES

OFFLINE archive:
• All new patient data is migrated to DVD (BACKUP) every day, another copy is produced, if and when necessary, which can be placed in the cupboard archive. Naturally the data remains always ONLINE available on the RAID storage system of the central archive.

In this archiving strategy, all patient data is administered and saved centrally. An “image tourisms”, in which the data are spread to various workstations for diagnosis due to a lack of server or network speed, is not necessary on a VEPRO system. Sensible auto routing for image distribution – based on the rules – is supported of course. At the same time it is ensured that the data truth is located in one place only.

Directly prior to archiving, all patient data is compressed non-lossy in real time speed. At this point only half the data volume is saved on the server and is transferred by the network. For this reason, VEPRO archive servers stand out for their excellent response time behavior even in a cardiology PACS, in which films with a gigabyte of storage are rendered available to many users parallel and in real time.

Even intelligent caching methods of diagnosis stations support the high performance archiving system and relieve the network environment from data traffic. With this archiving strategy, you will not only enjoy the fantastic speed and permanent data availability every day, but you will also profit from the future-oriented technological and price development of the “Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks” (RAID) archiving systems.
